Artist's Description

The orange cappers are on their annual pilgrimage to some poor old and forgotten stump deep in the hemlock forest. They cluster as schoolchildren awaiting commands from their teacher and what tales they are told. Coloured pencil on pastel paper using gesso and ink pen to accentuate.

Until recently I have been living and traveling within the extraordinary geographic boundary of Costa Rica and Nova Scotia, Canada, where I have drawn and taken pictures of some pretty nifty spots. My primary focus with my visual efforts is to find balanced, textural material that will evoke a story or a feeling of peace within the viewer and from time to time examine our social and personal conflicts with provocative, introspective images. In recent years I have put more energy into my drawing and painting, both digitally and with various colour mediums such as pencils, pens and acrylics, using 10 years of photographic material as reference content.
